VERTEX’s subsidiary, Optistar evaluated a contractor’s (Principal) information technology (IT) systems to identify sources of relevant information to a large surety claim. Optistar then collected electronically stored information (ESI) from construction software programs, 130 plus on-premise servers across 6 offices, documents management programs and email servers used by the Principal. Optistar consulted the Surety on IT related matters such as, operations, hardware management, system evaluations and network operations. The claim included 477 bonded construction projects across 9 states. Currently, Optistar is in the process of extracting physical documents from storage facilities and converting them to ESI, which will be preserved using secure, cloud storage.
