VERTEX performed an energy assessment in conjunction with a property condition assessment (PCA) at this two-story, 200-unit assisted living facility in Oxford, Mississippi. The facility was a recently constructed project that had taken energy efficiency into account during the design phase of the project, including high efficiency HVAC equipment and lighting. Because of the age and design of the property, many of the identified opportunities resulted in paybacks of over five years, and accordingly, VERTEX investigated low/no cost energy efficiency measures as in accordance with an ASHRAE Level I energy audit. VERTEX additionally reviewed potential energy savings opportunities related to occupant behavioral changes. As a cost-effective suggestion, improvements related to the programable thermostats were highlighted to ensure that the facility stays both comfortable and efficient while occupied.
