Bettering Outcomes – VERTEX as the Owner’s Project Manager for Brandeis University

Brandeis University is embarking on a transformative campus development with the construction of a new 631-bed residence hall, set to begin in June 2025. This initiative, the first phase of a comprehensive housing strategy, aims to enhance student life through modern, sustainable living spaces.

The project is a collaborative effort between Brandeis University, William Rawn Associates, and The Vertex Companies, LLC (VERTEX), who serves as the Owner’s Project Manager. VERTEX brings over two decades of experience in project management and construction supervision, ensuring the project’s alignment with the university’s vision.

A notable feature of the new residence hall is its commitment to sustainability. The building is designed to meet Passive House standards, incorporating all-electric systems, triple-glazed windows, and a rooftop prepared for solar panels. These elements reflect Brandeis University’s dedication to environmental responsibility.

The residence hall’s design emphasizes community and inclusivity. It will be organized into 14 residential “neighborhoods,” each housing approximately 50 students, and will feature amenities such as community kitchens, lounges, gender-neutral restrooms, an exercise room, and a multi-purpose social space.

Designing with Purpose: A Collaborative Vision for Brandeis’ Future Living Spaces

Currently, the Vertex OPM project team is in the process of selecting the exterior facade’s metal panel colors. This collaborative decision-making process involves input from VERTEX, Brandeis University, and William Rawn Associates, reflecting the team’s commitment to creating a cohesive and welcoming environment.​

Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2027, with the new residence hall ready to welcome students in the summer. This development represents a significant investment in the future of Brandeis University, enhancing the campus experience for generations to come.
