VERTEX was engaged to design the firewater system for North America’s largest shiplift being designed and built in Jacksonville, Florida to serve critical military vessels stationed at nearby Naval Air Station Mayport and beyond. VERTEX’s fire protection engineers worked closely with all project stakeholders including BAE, Foth Industries, the installing contractor, and the local fire department to design a flexible variable speed vertical turbine fire pump system that could both supply all emergency fire needs and process flow requirements that operations personnel commonly require in marine fabrication and repair process work. The work came in on time and within budget with successful outcomes for all parties.
