VERTEX worked as the civil and structural engineers on the project, consisting of a 4,500 S.F. one-story addition to the existing Human Performance Clinical Research Lab (HPCRL) Building. Structural challenges included tying into the existing structure and coordinating the structure to achieve the low horizontal architectural profile and ribbon windows while avoiding conflicts with the mechanical systems. Civil challenges included site constraints with proximity to floodplains.
