VERTEX served as the surety’s construction consultant following the termination of the original contractor. VERTEX was subsequently retained as the Completion Contractor responsible for the overall management and completion of the project for the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD). The scope of work, which is located on federal land leased from the US Navy, consisted of the demolition of several existing portable classrooms, renovation of three existing loft-style classrooms to include permanent partitions, improved site path of travel, and construction of two new 8-classroom buildings which resulted in a net increase in classroom space greater than 10 new classrooms. The renovation of each building included a new HVAC system, plumbing, fire safety, access control, communication, audio visual, etc. VERTEX services included the initial project assessment, schedule analyses, progress cost reports, construction management, coordination of project closeout documentation, managing collection of contract funds, and other miscellaneous consulting services for the surety.
