James O’Brien is a co-founder of VERTEX. He is a licensed site professional in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has significant experience related to environmental matters. Mr. O’Brien has managed complex technical projects globally, for a diverse worldwide clientele.
Mr. O’Brien serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors where he guides overall operations, compliance, and strategy for the organization. As the Secretary of the company, Mr. O’Brien, is the enterprise risk manager, overseeing all corporate matters. Within this role, he also manages the due diligence and compliance process for all acquisitions completed by VERTEX.
As the President of VERTEX from 1995 to 2014, Mr. O’Brien guided the company as it grew organically, expanding in both technical service areas and geographical reach. He guided the organization when it was acquired and then led a leveraged management buyback between 2001 and 2005 and continues to guide the current acquisitive growth strategy for VERTEX.
