Vice President, Project Advisory
As a senior leader providing cost management services within Construction Project Management, 28 years of experience continues to be refined daily and within my current role as a vice president. Within my responsibilities as a senior leader, I mentor, teach and train staff in the technical management of problems and projects and I lead teams of professionals to become our future leaders. I provide national technical training with an emphasis on professional development and my motivational will to overcome obstacles benefits our company, our teammates and our client base. Projects I have worked on in my career have ranged from $25,000 masonry and environmental projects, to $500MM mixed-use high-rises, to $2B+ land development projects for am incredible variety of clients developing, investing and lending within real estate and construction.
VERTEX is one of the leading real estate and construction intelligence and risk management firms in North America. As a vice president, I work directly with our managing director in the day-to-day management of VERTEX – Project Advisory. With ~65 staff nationwide, I directly manage and lead aspects of national business growth, provide senior internal risk management and client risk management, support directly in quality assurance, provide and enhance perpetual quality control training, and I support and work to facilitate personnel acquisition. Resources that I manage include our three assistant vice presidents overseeing daily operations within our 11 offices.
Our cost management (quantity surveying) client base ranges from debt lenders to equity investors to North American, US Territories and international developers to local general contractors. I provide consultative cost management expertise to clients via myriad delivery vehicles, albeit primarily within formally prepared and qualified reports. On behalf of our clients, I apply substantial emphasis within mixed-use commercial, multi-family, single-family rental (SFR), light industrial and specialty heavy industrial premises. These projects range from land development (A&D) to high-rise construction opportunities throughout North America and US Territories. My cost management methodologies include magnitude estimation (order of magnitude or ROM Estimate), budget estimation and definitive estimation. I routinely utilize proprietary internal cost management data, which I have been instrumental in facilitating the technological development and organization of, for comparative cost analyses to successfully grow and support the expansion of VERTEX as a cost management consultancy.
I am a professional member of the American Institute of Constructors and have held the qualification of Certified Professional Constructor for the past 17 years. I successfully completed the Quantity Surveying in the Americas 150-hour certification course over six months in mid-2019.
